Every year the SOUK designates a new jury of experts, selected for their design know-how, celebrated creativity, and their love for Montreal’s talent. The 2020 edition presents 69 designers, selected by an expert jury, to showcase in an exceptional mise-en-scène their savoir-faire and their unique products ranging from eclectic novelties to modern objects, ceramics, jewelry, books, food, toys, clothing, and much more.
This year, SOUK #17 is fortunate to have several partners from various backgrounds to celebrate Montreal design. Everyone has come together to ensure an unforgettable and seamless experience. The technical support for the digital space at SOUK is provided by Lightspeed, and the new virtual meetings are made possible thanks to Booxi. SOUK also wishes to express its gratitude to PVM and Ivanhoé Cambridge for the unique HABITAT space, Réno-Dépôt for the decor, Productions Rodeo for their studio space, and Destination Centre-Ville for their efforts in revitalizing downtown Montreal.
Even though 2020 is unfolding at a different pace, SOUK #17 emphasizes the importance of human connections and community. The event aims to maintain dialogue and exchanges between design enthusiasts and designers through its new digital space and its new location at PVM.
Finally, this edition has come to life thanks to the support of SODEC.
Inaugurated in 2003, SOUK is an incomparable marketplace for ideas, catering to the aesthetically aware and the design conscious. Curating and showcasing exceptional things for the everyday modern lifestyle, it extends a unique opportunity to connect with Montreal’s finest designers and makers.
Stemming from the desire to create an interesting discourse around creative thinking and to elevate the first-rate local talent, SOUK built a community with common design ethos and engaging storylines. With Azamit at its helm, SOUK is an unparalleled platform for collaboration, imbuing the city with an artistic flair and building a polished tribe.
